The Innovation Illusion

Can it be that when it comes to innovation most of us are simply unwilling participants in a complex multistage illusion? One that will eventually deliver on its promise of a final act that will leave us all dumbfounded and at a loss as to understand how on earth we ended up where we did.

The answer, as in all great illusion, is not what it seems. There is no master illusionist at work, the illusion is orchestrated by our own unavoidable path dependence.

In this eye-opening session, Craig Barnard will discuss the study of path dependence and understand that past is not simply ‘in the past’. To truly innovate we must understand what decisions which came before us will shape and, more often than not, defeat our efforts to innovate.
